So, here's the story on this one.
Awhile back I offered up a bag of scraps to try to manage my overflowing bins of scraps.... Kathie at inspiredbyantiquequilts, snatched them up and started making these crumb tumblers from the scraps, and I just couldn't believe it. They were so beautiful looking at all the memories of those scraps, it was a little shocking how moved I was.
Low and behold, She then made this small top with the green tumblers and it arrived back in my mailbox.
All those scraps? Came from making clothes and quilts for B over the years,
Eye spy anyone?
So guess what?
This is mommy's lap quilt now. MINE MINE MINE.
I used all my favorite fabrics and colors to finish off what kathie started...
I stayed up til 1am last night finishing all those little triangles. I just couldn't wait to get it done...
And now I can look at it and recall so many wonderful memories for years to come.
Thank you, so much Kathie!

Wow, I never would have thought of that. How sweet of Kathie!
Amazing how beautiful and intricate! Nice work Kathie! Enjoy V!
BTW you are so great at quilting I don't think you should be scared to use your Spoonflower fabrics.
I was hoping the title said "For Mushyhed". LOVE THIS QUILT!!! Awesome collaboration.
What a beautiful mommy lap quilt - seeing memories in bits of fabrics is the best. Great collaboration!
So sweet! I love the tumblers- such a beautiful and special quilt!
That quilt is beautiful! I did not realize that the tumblers were crumbs. I thought that was a printed fabric. What a wonderful gift for you friend to give back to you. The borders you added are the perfect frame. Yes you need to keep this one for yourself!
I've been away for most of this last month and it's so wonderful to catch up on your blog!! Your tumbler block quilt is wonderful, and the added memories make it such a special creation. I'm so glad you have such a wonderful quilt of your very own.
Cheers,
Dionne
PS - thanks for being such a constant source of inspiration and beautiful pictures!
Fabulous! I don't know which is better, the quilt or the story behind it. Enjoy my friend, you rock!
Great idea! I love a crazy quilt, but I think I love a crazy tumbler even more! Did you go through a nine patch phase? Saw several of those in the above quilts! You don't seem to have the same style anymore!
Its incredible!. you turned a simple little quilt into a masterpiece, love those fabrics you added to it.
I just LOVE it and I am so happy that have a quilt for you that is so full of memories
make sure you save this for when she goes off to college, trust me you will need it!
I love the use of scraps for your tumblers. It's a great idea. And I like the alternating with a solid, I may need to try that!
Aaawww, how sweet! And special. I admired these blocks on her blog. I'm so excited to see the finished quilt.
I too was impressed when I first viewed Kathie's tumblers (pulled the jpg to add to my must do list). Your finished quilt is beautiful. You have a great sense of what colors will enhance rather than clash.
Beautiful quilt...I remember those scraps...I don't always keep the tiny ones....oops!
What a great use of those little scraps - and I really like the idea of using the crumb fabric to cut a new shape from. The border fabrics you added are perfect! What a great quilt full of memories for you to enjoy...and how sweet of Kathie!
Oh, how wonderful!! There are no scraps like your own scraps, so this was an amazingly thoughtful gift. And I love the finish! Happy memories for years to come...
I love it! What a great quilt.
