welcome 2010

We'll be ringing in the new year with more snow!
The 26" was gone, and now we are getting just a little bit more.

I feel sorry for all the folk in Times Square tonight! brrrrr!

We hide out at our house for New Years, since we live so close to Times Square, it gets really hard to get around, streets close ext.. so we avoid it... and the noise..
the steady thrum of AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!
YEEEEAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!! WOOO!!!!!! HHHHAAAPPYY NEEEWW YYEEAARRR!!!!! it goes on for hours... the dogs go crazy....

***

We took a drive yesterday out and about, and drove past this house with there front yard, (!!!) covered in Canadian Geese all over it.... some yard huh?

I passed this car as I walked to the post office... Good name for fudge! ha!

random...

I'm hand sewing like crazy. I have most of my other stuff I brought out done, now I am just trying to finish my last three blocks for my tile quilt.

I'm also playing with my camera... If I can't sew, then I have to go to my other interests...
I looked back through my photos, and don't think I posted this quilt up close... It was a vintage seersucker top I had that I sent off to be quilted in fans... I just love it. I call it the snowball in a snowstorm quilt....It's so pretty. I think I got it on ebay for $20

We made Santa sleighs today. Always fun!

Bought some flowers to enjoy....

The clouds were lovely tonight.... thick and painterly...

I took these two Christmas eve...through the cab window...
It's been a lazy day.... sigh.
just love it.

Last days of 2009

We have 5 days left in 2009.

I hate the NEW YEAR.
I get very emotional as a another year flies by.
I don't react this way at my BIRTHDAY... (love my birthday!)
Just New Year.
Perhaps it is the COLD, And SNOW, and YUCK.... Do ya think?
But I do enjoy the last few days between Christmas and New year. Because we go to our house for a nice long spell, and I can be free from all the CITY stresses and things to do...
I can nap,
hand sew
cook
nap.
And all of that all over again...
It's definitely a time to rejuvenate...

Christmas day was a wonderful busy day. And now I just want to do nothing...
well, more precisely, nothing to me is:

Finishing my hand sewing on:
the tile blocks
The ooopsie quilt borders
and one more on point block...
And finishing the little quilts posted here, that I started a while ago!
I already cut up all my blue scraps with my acuquilt, cutter... That was awesome,
and I foresee a star quilt growing out of the scraps...
ahhh, sewing heaven.

How will you spend the last days of 2009?

Last Sunday.........Today....
What a difference a week makes!

NYC TAXI RIDE

We did our Christmas day outing to Central park... It's tradition. We got engaged here, we go every Christmas, and we take our Christmas card photo here at Strawberry Fields every year...we have not missed a day in central park on Christmas day in the 15 years I've been in NYC...
This is "the Dakota" a big old Beautiful building built in 1880 for Edward Clark, head of the Singer Sewing Machine Company. ( i just had to add that!)

Have you been to NYC?

There is always something to see... We sit and watch the tourists...

We take a walk around the park... then...

As we headed home we grabbed a cab...

Here is your official NYC TAXI RIDE...

Your driver for today...Mohammed Ali... no kidding. This was our taxi driver!
As we Floated like a butterfly down 9th ave,(absolutely no traffic on Christmas day!)

I noticed the lovely graffiti in the cab

ooh! Hansel and Gretel is on at the Met opera! And if you walk around behind these buildings, you can see the Big Apple Circus!
Which I highly recommend... Small, all seats up close, fun...very entertaining....

I thought about turning this post into a YELLOW post, as I had many Yellow photos today...
We are now close to 42nd st... getting closer to my home...

almost there!

Home Sweet Home...

And if you really want to keep that pile of newspapers, perhaps the top of our cab might be a good place to Let it go!!!
(Of course none of us sewing folk can fathom being a hoarder....)

...Just fabric...

Hope you enjoyed your New York taxi Ride.

Please exit on the curb side, and don't forget to tip your driver!

;-)

(and a couple pics of yesterday at Washington Square park)

Merry Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I've been playing with some of my new goodies...
(of course I did!)

This will be great for cutting up all my scraps!

She likes her fuzzy blanket!

joy

The quilt that grew and grew...
I hope I have more scrap blocks to finish the Kitchen sink quilt into a king size!
I may need to make a few more goodies to stick in... nearly every scrap I have, has gone in...
I just love it. So many memories, such a nice way to wrap it all up for 2009.
go ahead a nd click the image to see it larger and clearer...

Dear Santa,
Please send me this quilt,
so I don't have to make it myself....

Lovely B in red, at a Christmas party last night...Waiting for the shrimp, and pigs in a blanket to come around for appetizers! Then that frown turned into a grin...
poor thing. Looks so bored! Good thing she had a yoyo in her pocket!
And we went to her favorite restaurant afterward... so life isn't all that bad....

Can I also say that I love my iphone!
It takes such great pictures!!

even silly ones, with mom...

Happy Sewing!

monday fun

We're back in NYC. We got plowed out late last night, and hopped in the car and cruised back to the city! Where's all the snow? they had 10" and most of it is gone already... I guess the heat from the buildings has melted most of it... It's all slushy already...
I was trying to clean up a bit and I found this project I started a year ago for Chinese New Year...
I thought perhaps I could get it done for THIS Chinese New Year! Better late then never....

I've played a bit with my Kitchen Sink quilt... this morning... Soon we are off to see the Princess and the frog with B and her pal... So i got my playing done early today....

Last night before we left, we had an amazing sunset.... Everything was pink... I hope the snow will still be there to play in on Saturday when we head back to our house after Christmas!
