not all lazy

Not all stuff and nonsense this weekend...
Got some lovely applique work done.
But never did get anything done in the garden other than a good inspection...
Bleeding hearts? check.
Peonies up? check.
Rhubarb? check, check and check.

My raspberry bushes behind the dogs, are nearly ready to take over my garden...
that could be a problem...!!!!

Haven't cooked any new recipes in ages... so I had to get out a favorite book
and make some of the Bolognaise on page 227.
YUM.
I'll post it over at my recipe blog soon...
Even better the next day for lunch.. I'm stuffed.

enjoy your Sunday!

15 + minutes

13.25" X 17.5"

It started with 15 minutes...

I got out my box of 3 inch squares and a pile of solid scraps...

sewn the scraps together cut into 3" blocks at random...

Picked out colors for the filler blocks...

Brown?
Green?

I like the brown.. I'm in a cozy brown mood...

Pick out a scrap backing...

Machine quilt it, lines and curves

Dig through my scrap binding box...
pick out the binding.

sew it on.
Stitch it up...

throw it in the wash...

done.

(slightly more than 15 minutes... oops!
more like 45 minutes)

Back to applique... moving right along...

Thank you Jan, Barbara B, and Bonnie!

Hop over the SAY CHEESE portraits blog...
Some fun stuff happening over there!
Let loose, have some fun, even for 15 minutes!

BASICS UPDATE

I rcvd a lovely box of goodies yesterday From Barbara A. for the BASICS project!
A nearly completed top, so all I had to do was insert the house blocks!
Oh JOY!!!
Barbara not only sent the top, but backings and bindings, and this quilt is DONE in minutes!!
Bright, cheery and fabulous! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH Barbara,
It was such a joy to receive your box!

This is my favorite part to this project!!! I get to sift through and look again
at all the lovely blocks you all have sent!

Done in minutes....
See any of your blocks in there?

Jackie is one of the gals who has offered to Quilt a bunch of these for me...
I will be putting a box in the mail shortly with the first 10 quilts...
Jackie also has a give away going... hop over!

And Don't forget, my AMY BUTLER FABRIC GIVEAWAY! Anything (house blocks, 20.5 blocks, backings, bindings, offers to quilt) rcvd before April 30th will get a chance to win the fabric!

One more top put together yesterday...

(notice my Anguillan sunrise blocks?
I realized my Dresdens are exactly the same colors as these blocks! ooh! the possibilities!!)

And look how many more BASICS QUILTS I have to go!

Backings, Bindings, and a HUGE stack of 10.5" blocks... that stack is about 7" tall of squares...
the first 8 tops was from a stack about 5 " tall..

so I figure I have about another 15 or so quilt tops in that pile!
And my mother has a stack of her own, for about another 8 tops...

How many more can we get?

Keep me busy folks!

I dare you!

MQday

two more for today.... (Anguillan sunrise blocks)

It's a machine quilting kind of day...
had my 15 minutes, No more time to play!

two a day...

two a day...
I've bend trying to do two blocks for this a day... sometimes I make it sometimes I don't...
Having this quilt and the Hawaiian sunset quilt going at the same time,

I find, since these are not normal quilts for me to make,
I gotta keep doing something that makes me THINK less...

I've have some big projects to do lately, and feel I've gotten away from
doing what I love to do...
throwing things up and trying new things all at the same time...
I have a few little fun things, but nothing to serious...

So I turned my 15 minutes a day to something else...
Portraits...

To funny huh? scary, yes, but I did this very quickly, and it makes me laugh,
so that makes it all worth it...

You can play along too, if you want.
We're just getting started over here...
SAY CHEESE

And a little laughter and fun,
makes getting through a BIG applique job,
much easier...
day by day, a little at a time...It's a great lesson in patience....

happy playing!

can you tell?

What a lovely weekend!!!

Yes, you can tell what I did this weekend, and it had nothing to do with sewing...

Well, I did play for my 15 minutes, when we got back to the city with these tumblers...

Nothing to brain taxing... Just having a little brain mush play...

And it just feels good!

Besides quilting as a hobby, what is the next best thing?

For me it's a tie between my garden and my motorcycle...
how about you?

Also, THANK YOU's to
Alexis, and Annie N, Sharon J, ANNIE, Kim B.
